When is a Phone a Slate

Post by Rob7 on Thu Dec 26, 2013 10:50 pm

I start this thread with the idea that it may get harder to tell a phone from a slate.

Recently I had a chance to test and then buy the Nokia Lumia 1520 which is the 6" device that serves both functions.  As one who has had phones ranging from 2" up to 6" I am here to say "bigger is better"

After you have used a larger phone/slate combo,....going back to using a smaller phone is not fun.  It's interesting to how quickly you adapt to carrying and using it.

Just one guys opinion for what its worth !

I just got the Samsung Note 3 and I love it.  I can't imagine something smaller now.  It does not completely replace my 8 inch android tablet but it does narrow the gap quite a bit.

The one thing I like about having a smaller phone (besides less pocket bulge) is it encourages me to use my 7 inch tablet more.  I feel if I had a large screen phone like a Note, I would all but ignore my tablet.
Plus, I've come to like having all of the major app markets available to me via having an iPhone, an Android tablet, a Windows desktop and larger Windows tablet (which is a glorified digital photo frame at the moment).

But in regards to your topic's title; I do feel like when I used the Note 3, it felt like a mini-tablet more so than a phone.  Not too large to not be pocket-able though.
